Jewels of Hope

JOH – Jewels of Hope is a safe, sustainable job creation program founded by Warren Jones, for children aged 11-19 from a very poor community suffering from HIV/AIDS.

Many of these children have lost one or both parents and are responsible for providing and caring for younger siblings. The children are put into groups, which are led by a team leader who not only teaches them how to make the beautiful beaded jewelry, but mentors them as well. The children are encouraged to continue enrolling in school to finish their studies.

Volunteers sell the jewelry, and a portion of the money returned from the sales is then put back into purchasing more beads to sustain the children’s projects. The rest is given to the children so that they may provide their households with food, water and clothing.
Leur Présence sells jewelry on behalf of these children, who are working so hard to bring in an income for their families.

We want to see this program excel, as it offers a safe method of income, unlike child prostitution, drug dealing, begging and other unsafe means of finding money to survive.

How can you help?
